Cancel out Cancer (COC)

COC is a public campaign developed by patients and supported by MacMillan Cancer Support. This local volunteer-led campaign aims to not only improve people’s understanding of cancer, but also encourage everyone to take action to promote their health. This can then be taken one step further by spreading the message with friends, family, colleagues and neighbours.

You are invited to a 60-minute Cancel Out Cancer Zoom session on Tuesday 20 August between 7pm and 8pm on Zoom.

To register please email [email protected] and  a link will be emailed to attendees in advance of the session.

Health is where the heart is: blood pressure checks at dentists and opticians

The Hertfordshire and West Essex Integrated Care Board (ICB) is undertaking a pilot of implementing blood pressure monitoring in a selection of dental practices and opticians across Hertfordshire and West Essex. The idea is to increase the detection of hypertension by having blood pressure monitoring available in settings other than GPs and pharmacies.

Healthwatch Herts are holding two focus groups with members of the public to explore their thoughts on having blood pressure monitoring available in dental practices and opticians.  They want to speak to Hertfordshire residents over the age of 40 who do not have a diagnosis of hypertension and who are able to attend focus groups on 13 August and 15 August between 6pm and 8pm.

Attendees will receive a £10 voucher for contributing to the  research.

The sign-up form  can be accessed here: https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/HwHFocusGroups or alternatively people can email [email protected] or ring 01707 275978 to register.
