Carers in Herts
Carers in Herts re running many Courses and Workshops during the year. We realise most of these are not local to Potters Bar, however the “Caring in Confidence” Course and “Dementia Carer “Forums are being held at the Wyllotts Theatre, Darkes Lane.
For details of these and other Courses and Workshops available, please speak to Lynn, Carers Champion. Please note Carers in Herts can help with alternative care costs and transport should you require it.
If you need help with getting to your healthcare appointment then you should call Patient Transport Services. The contact number for booking non-emergency patient transport (PTS) is 0300 303 2101. Transport may be available to you depending on:
- Your medical condition
- Your mobility
- Your support needs
This will be assessed by PTS and the GP’s have no control/input into this.
For transport to NHS Hospitals or clinics in Bedfordshire and Hertfordshire:
Patients will be assessed and accessible transport will be booked for those patients whose medical need or mobility means that they cannot travel by any other means (including family and friends, taxi or voluntary car se
For transport to hospitals or clinics outside Hertfordshire and Bedfordshire:
Call handlers will provide advice and assistance for these journeys.
Patients should have their NHS number to hand when they book a journey. You can find this on your appointment letters.
Patients who are not eligible
If you are not eligible the patient transport service will advise on alternative door-to-door transport options, such as the voluntary car scheme. There is usually a charge for this transport.
