Healthy & Active in Herts

Healthy and Active in Herts is a new £1m programme targeting the most deprived and least active areas of Hertfordshire. It is a three year project delivered in collaboration by Herts Sports Partnership, Broxbourne Borough Council, Watford Football Club Sport and Education Trust, Hertsmere Leisure and Mind.

The project aims to target inactive adults with risk factors for cardiovascular disease and moderate mental health issues and support them to become physically active and improve their lifestyle.

What will the project offer?

The Get Active Specialists use an evidence based approach through use of a brief intervention using motivational interviewing and applying behaviour change theory. This approach helps to support individuals to make positive lifestyle choices to increase their physical activity levels as the Get Active Specialist support individuals to review their current levels of activity, interests, motivations, confidence levels, and then help them to set realistic goals and an action plan. From these action plans clients are them signposted or referred onto physical activity / sports providers as part of their next steps and goal setting.
